One of the greatest challenges in life is accepting that some people will not like you, especially if you like them. There really is no point in appeasing others to like you, because faking who you are should never be the way to go. It is exhausting and simply a waste of time in this precious life. Instead, you should seek people that like you for who you are and ignore the ones who do not.
Are you not worthy?
Especially when you like somebody in a romantic way, you really want the other person to like you in return. Naturally, we tend to adjust our behavior in a certain way to impress the other. Unfortunately, we do not always get the desired outcome.
Does that mean you are not worthy? Or that you should change things about yourself? No! That is a common mistake we make. We start to feel less about ourselves, because that person is so amazing in our eyes that his or her preferences must be legitimate. Although, that person may be perfect in your eyes, he or she is definitely not perfect for you.
So, what is the solution? Cry and whine? No! It’s confidence. Start thinking about what exactly it is that you like about that person. Are they smart? Are they funny? Are they classy? Are they beautiful? These are all things that you are (or can be) as well, so there is no need to be upset. You can live without them and happily so! There are many other people out there who will like you for who you are, so why worry about the ones who do not? Their judgment does not say anything about who you are.
You are more than other people’s opinions
In situations other than romance, the same can occur. No matter what you do, there will always be someone who is going to criticize you, which is logical because it is not possible for the entire world to like you. Just never forget that you are more than the words of others, you are more than their judgments. You have to find acceptance with who you are as a person and love yourself! Even if you lack confidence at the moment, you can work on that. In one of my previous articles, you can learn what important changes to make in your mindset to start loving yourself.
The bottom line
Do not lay awake in bed at night thinking about people that do not like you; they do not define you! Of course, it is OK to be upset about it, because hey, the heart wants what it wants right? However, you should not linger on in that stage for a long time. Life is short and you deserve to be happy, so there is no point in giving these people the power to put you down. You are amazing and wonderful and nothing changes that. 🙂
