A famous Dutch quote is “you are what you eat,” which means that if you eat unhealthy, you become an unhealthy person and vice versa. This logic does not only apply to food, but also to our actions in general: What we do determines what we become. This can either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on… us! If we put in the right work, we are going to get the result we desire. However, we can’t expect to acquire these results without doing the work. Good thing that our actions are always in our hands! 😉
What do you want?
Who do I want to be? That is the question you should ask yourself. Once you find the answer, think about what is necessary to achieve that goal and coordinate your actions accordingly. If you want to be a student with excellent marks, for instance, one action would be to reserve adequate time to study for your tests.
The journey to reach your personal goals is similar to a road going in opposite directions. You will arrive at the desired destination—even with small steps—just as long as you’re moving into the right direction.
Use vision to beat vices
However, this is not as easy as it seems. You will find out that becoming who you want to be requires dedication, sacrifice and time. If you do not take these factors seriously, you may fall victim to temptations. Going back to the example of becoming a good student, it would be tempting to go to parties instead of studying for tests. But which choice will make you happier in the long run? The key is to always look at the bigger picture. Use your vision to beat your vices!
You can become anyone you want to be and do anything you want to do. The most important thing to remember is that you should not limit yourself and your dreams. It is also never too late to turn your life around and become “a new you”. The result will always be worth the sacrifices!
